NEW YORK, Aug. 26, 2014 — GLSEN ( the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network ), the nation's leading education organization focused on ensuring safe schools for all students, has launched its GLSEN's 25 Days for Safer Schools back-to-school initiative. As part of the effort, GLSEN will highlight a different educational resource each day for 25 consecutive school days through September 29.
GLSEN programs and resources have been used in tens of thousands of classrooms and educational communities across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. In addition to celebrating back-to-school season, the 25 days beginning August 25 are a nod to GLSEN's upcoming 25th anniversary in 2015. The select group from a wide range of GLSEN's free resources will be released through various digital engagement channels ( the GLSEN blog,Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and weekly emails ) and presented over the course of five themed weeks:
Aug. 25 — 29: Educators
Sept. 2 — 5: Curriculum
Sept. 8 — 12: Students
Sept. 15 — 19: GLSEN Chapters
Sept. 22 — 26: Public Policy
Sept. 29: Preview of Upcoming Events
