Former Nightspots/Windy City Times office manager Pennycuff

Longtime local LGBT activist and former Nightspots/Windy City Times office manager John Pennycuff ( left ) passed away Jan. 29 after a two-month illness. John and his partner Robert Castillo made the March 24, 2004, cover of Nightspots after flying to California that year to get married in San Francisco. The background of the cover is their actual certificate. The marriage was nullified by the state and they were remarried in California four years later. John spent years on the forefront of the marriage fight and we were glad to honor him with this cover.
