The DC Divas grabbed victory from the host Chicago Force on May 7 on the last play of the game, literally.
The Force was driving, with the ball spotted at the Divas' 10 with 10 seconds remaining to play. Force quarterback Rasan Gore faded back, looking for a receiver in the end zone, as Chicago needed a last-ditch touchdown and the point-after to tie the gameor a two-point conversion would give Chicago the victory.
But Gore's pass was intercepted and the Divas left Lane Stadium with the win, 41-34.
Chicago falls to 4-1, while the defending WFA National Champion Divas move to 5-1.
Chicago's Kim Marks earned the Game Day Defensive MVP Award, presented by DLG Management, for her three sack performance. Cassey Brick of the Force was named the Game Day Offensive MVP Award, also presented by DLG Management.
Brick rushed for 74 yards and had 48 yards receiving. She also scored three touchdowns on runs of 3, 12 and 23 yards.
Chicago held a 15-13 lead after the first quarter as Emma Vanderheyden had a 17-yard TC run at 5:33 of the first quarter.
The Divas countered with 21 unanswered points to build a 34-15 lead.
Chicago newcomer Zoe Barnett scored a 4-yard touchdown run at 13:14 of the fourth quarter to cut the score to 41-28. And Brick's final touchdown with 3:00 remaining in the fourth cut it to a seven-point Divas lead.
And the Force was looking ready for the heroic, come-from-behind victoryuntil the Divas sealed their victory with the interception.
The Force will host the Indy Crash on Saturday, May 14, at Lane Stadium. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
