—Chicago Magic Lounge ( www.chicagomagiclounge.com/ ): As the saying goes, "Prepare to be amazed." ( Also, check out David Parr's Cabinet of Curiosities every Wednesday at the venue, and there are also family-friendly shows on Sunday afternoons. )

—Houlihan's Impossible Burger ( www.houlihans.com/ ): To attract vegetarians, many restaurants have non-meat Impossible Burgers on their menus—including Houlihan's ( currently in suburban locations only ), which has a pretty tasty burger that comes with cheddar, special sauce, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun.

—Strange Evidence ( www.sciencechannel.com/tv-shows/strange-evidence/ ): Science Channel's Strange Evidence has returned for a second season to investigate bizarre phenomena and mysteries. For example, in the premiere episode ( which aired July 10 ), scientists examine an eerie, toxic fog that creeps into an Illinois town, causing people to flee for their lives. Bizarre, indeed...

—Revealing Selves: Transgender Portraits from Argentina: In this gorgeous book ( published in the United States by The New Press ), photographer Kike Arnal collaborates with individuals in Argentinian transgender communities, documenting their everyday lives with intimate black-and-white images.
