—Black Deutschland: Darryl Pinckney's intriguing novel focuses on Jeb, a Black Chicagoan who flees to Berlin, Germany. He indulges his fantasies—but can't avoid certain issues he attempts to escape. ( Note: Pinckney will discuss the book at the Chicago Humanities Festival's "Margo Jefferson & Darryl Pinckney: Style and the Black Bourgeoisie" on April 30. See ChicagoHumanities.org . )

—Pretty Little Liars, season six: The sixth season of this Freeform ( formerly ABC Family ) show is now out on DVD. It's different from the previous seasons in at least two major ways: The tormentor known as "A" is finally revealed ( in a twist that generated much news, and some controversy ), and the season shoots forward five years, when a new death draws the four female leads ( including Shay Mitchell, who plays lesbian lead Emily ) back to their hometown of Rosewood. Included in the DVD set are four featurettes.

—Panes Bread Cafe: This popular eatery, at 3002 N. Sheffield Ave., has items such as goat-cheese crostini and the spicy Pollo Diablo sandwich—but is just as well known for its desserts, including a beyond-delicious banana chocolate-chip mini-loaf. Also, bring greenery; Panes only takes cash.

—Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness ( in 4K UHD ): Paramount Home Media Distribution announced that director J.J. Abrams' global blockbusters Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness will be the studio's first two titles released on the new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. The releases, slated for June 14, coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise in 2016. The discs will have a slew of extras, including "Introducing the Villain," "Mr. Spock and Mr. Spock" and even a gag reel.

—Ravinia's summer: Bob Dylan ( performing with Mavis Staples ), Diana Ross, Tony Bennett, Paul Simon, Bryan Ferry, Seal, Patti LaBelle, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, the Alice Cooper/Joe Perry/Johnny Depp supergroup Hollywood Vampires, and Duran Duran and Chic ( led by Nile Rodgers ) are among the acts slated to perform at Ravinia this summer. See Ravinia.org .
