Thousands of people from across the country attended BlogHer '13 in Chicago July 25-27. Events were held at the Sheraton and McCormick Place.
The mostly female audience attended workshops and heard from a variety of speakers, including Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg; Queen Latifah; author and Internet guru Guy Kawasaki; Gail Anne Hurd of The Walking Dead and many more.
Sandberg, whose book Lean In has sold 1 million copies, spoke about her LeanIn.Org foundation, and the need for women to speak up for themselves, and their dreams.
"I want to be unapologetically a business executive and I want to be unapologetically a feminist," Sandberg said, adapting her friend Mellody Hobson's phrase about being unapologetically a woman and unapologetically an African American. Hobson was in the audience.
There were lesbian bloggers among the many attending BlogHer, which also included an expo with minor and major corporate brands.
