#FOLLOWUS, which opened Feb. 28 at the Gray Center Lab, 929 E. 60th St., is presented as a history of the untold, forgotten and unofficial narratives from the University of Chicago from 1893 to 2013.
A collaboration between Chase Joynt, Kristen Schilt and a group of undergraduate students, the installation also includes a variety of images, artifacts and memorabilia linking the university to a storied history of queer thought, radicalism, feminism, liberalism and free thinking. The installation also includes views of Hyde Park and the geographic areas in and around the university depicting the changes in the landscape due to time and urban renewal.
This project is part of "Tell Me the Truth," a yearlong collaboration shared by Shilt and Joynt, Mellon fellows at the Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry. The exhibit runs until March 7.
