Giordano Dance at Auditorium Jan. 31

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., will present Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC) in the company's first full-length performance at the venue as part of the "Made in Chicago" Dance Series, Saturday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m.

Highlights will include the world premiere of "Shirt Off My Back," a full-company work choreographed by award-winning choreographer Ray Mercer of Disney's hit Broadway musical The Lion King, and an all-new version of Autumn Eckman's Pilsen-themed "Moving Sidewalks."

Spandau Ballet moves Chicago date

The '80s group Spandau Ballet announced that it would move several North American tour dates of its "Soul Boys of the Western World" tour to this spring to coincide with the U.S. release of its feature film, Soul Boys of the Western World.

The concert is now scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at the House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn St., at 7:30 p.m. ( The previous date was Friday, Jan. 30. )

Previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date.

Disney on Ice presents 'Frozen' Jan.-Feb.

Feld Entertainment, Inc., is bringing the Oscar-winning animated feature film Disney's Frozen, to life, in its 34th Disney On Ice spectacular.

Disney on Ice will present "Frozen Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt" Jan. 28-Feb. 8 at Chicago's United Center.

In the event, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse take the audience through the magical story based in Arendelle, with special appearances by Disney princesses and favorite characters from Disney/Pixar's Toy Story and Finding Nemo and Disney's The Lion King.

Charlie XCX, K. Michelle releasing CDs

Singers Charlie XCX and K. Michelle are releasing CDs.

Charlie has released the True Romance album and co-wrote Icona Pop's "I Love It" and well as the Iggy Azalea's behemoth single of 2014, "Fancy."

Her upcoming CD, SUCKER, is a 14-track collection with songs such as "Boom Clap," "Break the Rules" and "London Queen." See charlixcxmusic.com for more information.

Regarding K. Michelle ( who has also been on reality shows such as VH1's Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and Love & Hip Hop: New York ), her first full-length album was 2013's Rebellious Soul. Arriving at number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and number two on the Top 200, it made history as it became the highest Top 200 entry for a female R&B singer's debut since 2001.

Michelle's follow-up album is Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart? She recorded the CD in Los Angeles with hit-makers including Pop & Oak ( Britney Spears, Drake ), Eric Hudson ( Kanye West, Mary J. Blige ) and Lil' Ronnie ( R. Kelly, Lupe Fiasco ). Visit www.thekmichelle.com .

Country-western dance club forms

A new LGBTQ country-western dance organization, the Second City Country Dance Association, has formed.

The first event was a Sunday tea dance & BBQ at Charlie's Chicago, 3726 N. Broadway, on Dec. 7, 2014. A second tea dance is scheduled for Feb. 8, also at Charlie's, starting at 1:30 p.m..

At the Dec. 7 event, more than 100 people turned out for the afternoon festivities highlighted by line-dance instruction and two-step dancing.

A key part of the organization's formation is chartering from the International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country Western Dance Clubs ( IAGLCWDC ). SCCDA has obtained initial "applicant" approval for SCCDA to become the Chicago-based affiliate member.

Bowie exhibit sets record

More than 193,000 people visited the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago ( MCA ) during the 15-week run of the "David Bowie Is" exhibition ( Sept. 23, 2014-Jan. 4, 2015 ), setting a new attendance record for the venue.

As the most successful exhibition in the MCA's 47-year history, "David Bowie Is" also set new attendance records for all of the Bowie-related programs and performances and the highest sales for the MCA Store, with the addition of the Bowie-themed store.

The MCA was the only U.S. venue for this exhibition, which London's Victoria and Albert Museum organized.
