'Escape' with Black Pride and Steamworks

Windy City Black LGBT Pride announced that it will hold monthly parties at Club Escape, 1530 E. 75th Street, Chicago, in the run-up to this coming July's Black Pride Celebration. The 'Escape' parties will be held the 4th Saturday of each month—April 26, May 24 and June 28— from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Sponsored by The Steamworks, Chicago's leading men's gym/sauna, 'Escape' parties will feature prizes and giveaways including T-shirts, tank tops, CDs, event tickets, and discount cards good at The Steamworks. 'Escape' parties are open to anyone over age 21. Windy City Black LGBT Pride Windy City Black LGBT Pride, Inc. hosts Chicago's annual celebration of Black Pride during the Fourth of July holiday. This year's celebration, takes place July 2-7, 2003.

'United in Pride' is the largest ethnic pride celebration in the Midwest and will feature a Community Awards Luncheon, a Poetry Slam and vendor fair at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and a lakefront festival at Rainbow Beach, a special event at The Steamworks, and other parties at area bars. Windy City Black LGBT Pride is a social service organization and the funds raised at United in Pride are redistributed in the community to help people who are in need. Historically, the celebration brings together a national audience of more than 6,000 African American lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgendered to attend workshops, strategy sessions, networking events, focus groups and social activities. The Steamworks, 3641 N. Halsted, has been a prominent fixture on Chicago's North Side for more than 20 years, The Steamworks, part of a network of clubs that includes facilities in Berkeley, Calid., and San Juan, Puerto Rico, provides an environment for men interested in meeting other men.
