Several sources have stated that Smith was bisexual.

Also regarding Mo'Nique, Lee Daniels ( who directed Mo'Nique in her Oscar-winning turn in Precious ) said that she "has to learn how to play ball," according to TheWrap. "During the [Oscar] campaign, she was making unreasonable demands, and I remember thinking, 'This is when reverse racism happens,'" Daniels told Don Lemon. "You have to thank the producers of the film, you have to thank the studio—and she didn't understand that. People aren't going to respond well. ... She's brilliant, and I love working with brilliant people."

...And Mo'Nique has fired back at Daniels' remarks, TheWrap noted. She told CNN's Don Lemon she was offered parts in other movies, but "they just didn't make sense to me." Mo'Nique added, "It wasn't that I was blackballed, like Mr. Daniels said. ...
