During an EW Radio town hall on SiriusXM, People and Entertainment Weekly editorial director Jess Cagle asked two-time Oscar winner Sally Field—in the new film My Name Is Doris—for any advice she would give to parents who expected their child was about to come out to them. She responded, "First of all, don't be frightened. And don't put your own prejudices or fears about sexuality—your own fears about sexuality—on your children. Sexuality is a human glorious part of existence."

Ellen DeGeneres is helping to make a terminally ill comedian's dream come true, ABC News reported. Quincy Jones, a Los Angeles-based comedian who has terminal cancer, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the talk show host revealed that she had convinced HBO to air an hour-long stand-up special starring Jones himself. Jones was diagnosed with stage-four mesothelioma in July 2015 and was given one year to live. Jones' one-hour special will take place Monday, April 4, at L.A.'s Teragram Ballroom.

Empire co-star Jussie Smollett recently sat down with HuffPost Live and discussed AIDS prevention. In part, Smollett said, "That's the problem with our generation as a whole that I want to really help change, is the idea that something is [from] yesteryear. We get attached to these hashtags and it becomes this social media fad. But it's almost as if HIV/AIDS stopped being the thing to talk about before social media came around. We've gotta bring that back because we're not done."

ABC News correspondent Gio Benitez recenty talked with People about his chemistry with fiance Tommy DiDario. "I used to be one of those guys who never really thought about marriage, and then I met Tommy," Benitez said. "So there we were in Paris, eight months into the relationship, with the Eiffel Tower as the backdrop, and I asked Tommy the ultimate commitment question." In mid-April, Benitez and DiDario, an actor and social-media branding consultant, will tie the knot in Benitez's hometown of Miami.

When Hugh Jackman, who played Gaston in the stage musical of Beauty and the Beast, and Luke Evans, who will play Gaston in the upcoming live-action remake, were both guests on The Jonathan Ross Show, they had a sing-off, according to Entertainment Weekly. Ross challenged the two men to sing Gaston's eponymous song together. Jackman's Eddie the Eagle co-star Taron Egerton was more than happy to play Gaston's doting lackey LeFou, bursting into the song's prologue without any hesitation.

Rachel Griffiths ( Brothers and Sisters, Six Feet Under ), Mary Louise-Parker ( Weeds, Angels in America ) and Guy Pearce ( Memento, L.A. Confidential ) are set for lead roles opposite Carrie Preston in ABC's eight-hour miniseries about the gay-rights movement, When We Rise, written/executive produced by Dustin Lance Black and Bruce Cohen, according to Deadline. Gus Van Sant will direct the two-hour premiere of the seven-episode event limited series. Pearce will play LGBT activist Cleve Jones, Parker is women's-rights leader Roma Guy and Griffiths plays her wife, social-justice activist Diane.

Freeform, previously known as ABC Family, has slated New People for development, a transgender family drama from The Opposite of Sex writer-director Don Roos, Joel Silver's Silver Pictures and Lionsgate Television, NewNowNext noted. The series is inspired by the best-selling nonfiction book Becoming Nicole: The Transformation Of An American Family, which tells the story of a trans girl, her identical twin brother and their family's journey toward acceptance.

When Matt Bomer signed on to play Montgomery Clift in the upcoming biopic Monty Clift, he immediately felt as though his connection to the Hollywood icon was more than skin-deep, according to People. "Even as a young kid—before obviously I knew anything about him, or even myself—I saw him on screen and I thought, 'Oh, wow. He actually looks a lot like my brother,'" said Bomer. Clift's movie-star good looks were marred by a 1956 car accident that, despite cutting-edge plastic surgery at the time, altered facial features and left him with chronic medical conditions as well as drug and alcohol dependencies; he died in 1966 at age 45.

The Brothers Grimsby star Sacha Baron Cohen talked with Howard Stern about why he quit the biopic of the late Queen front man Freddie Mercury, EW.com noted. ( After years of false starts, Baron Cohen officially left the project in 2013. ) Baron Cohen told Stern that he and the surviving members of Queen didn't see eye to eye on the project's tone, as the band wanted a PG-rated look at Mercury's legacy, while Baron Cohen planned a grittier, R-rated drama that fully explored Mercury's wild lifestyle—complete with all the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.

Wicked has defied the odds, earning more than $1 billion at the Broadway box office in 12 and a half years—making it the fastest show to do so in Broadway history, according to EW.com . The musical—which tells the story of how things came to be in the Land of Oz—joins The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera in the $1-billion club. Based on Gregory Maguire's novel by the same name, Wicked opened in October 2003 and ranks as the 10th longest-running show on Broadway.

Xena and Gabrielle might have a lesbian relationship in the upcoming Xena: Warrior Princess reboot—fulfilling years of fan's wishes for the '90s TV show, according to The New York Daily News. "There is no reason to bring back Xena if it is not there for the purpose of fully exploring a relationship that could only be shown subtextually in first-run syndication in the 1990s," reboot co-producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach wrote on Tumblr. During Xena's six-season run, and continuing on since going off the air in 2001, fans frequently picked up on less-than-subtle romantic hints between Xena ( Lucy Lawless ) and Gabrielle ( Renee O'Connor ), but their relationship never extended past warriors and friends.

Caitlyn Jenner's reality show, I Am Cait, is reportedly about to be cancelled, PinkNews noted. The news emerged after the show's second season started and its ratings dropped sharply, failing to meet expectations. Ratings for the current season are down by 500,000 from the first season's final episode and nearly 2 million down from the show's pilot, which attracted 2.73 million viewers last year.

Olivia Newton-John's ex-boyfriend who went missing a decade ago may be alive—and with another woman, Page Six noted while citing Australia's Woman's Day. Patrick McDermott, who disappeared from a 2005 overnight fishing trip in California and was believed to be dead, is reportedly secretly living with a German national in Mexico. McDermott, who was 48 at the time and had been dating the singer/actress for nine years, allegedly fell off a 20-person fishing boat in 2005; Newton-John reported him missing a week later.

Famed male model Fabio ( last name: Lanzoni ), famed for gracing the covers of romance novels, says he wouldn't rule out a future political run after becoming a U.S. citizen, according to Page Six. Fabio emigrated from Italy 36 years ago and counts his new citizenship as one of his biggest accomplishments: "I've been in love with this country since I was 14 years old. Yesterday was like getting married." Fabio said he won't support a presidential candidate until he sees the top nominees debate, but said he isn't opposed to seeing Donald Trump on the GOP ticket despite his controversial remarks about immigration.

Peter Gallagher has been cast in NBC's adaptation of Cruel Intentions, joining Sarah Michelle Gellar, Variety reported. Gellar is reprising her role as Kathryn Merteuil in the TV adaptation of the '90s film. The series is set 15 years after the film ended, centering around Gellar's all-grown-up Kathryn, as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey ( newcomer Taylor John Smith ), the son of the late Sebastian Valmont ( the character that was played by Ryan Phillippe in the original film ) and Annette Hargrove ( the character played by Reese Witherspoon ).

In a recent appearance on the Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast, Scary Spice ( Mel B. ) said that a Spice Girls reunion is closer to happening, EW.com noted. "We are in talks with each other closely," the America's Got Talent judge revealed. "But until something's official, there's no point saying anything until there are tour dates to announce. I do feel like it's getting closer and closer. I've been trying to get those bitches together for years!"

More than two dozen members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences signed a letter asking the Academy to address the "tone-deaf" portrayal of Asians at this year's Oscar ceremony, according to EW.com . Two-time Oscar winner Ang Lee, out actor George Takei and Grey's Anatomy alumna Sandra Oh were among the 25 AMPAS members of Asian descent who sent the letter to the Academy, protesting the ceremony's "tasteless and offensive skits" and calling for "concrete steps to ensure that people are portrayed with dignity and respect." The Motion Picture Academy apologized for jokes made about Asians during last month's Oscars ceremony, TheWrap added.

Boxer Manny Pacquiao has been banned from The Grove in Los Angeles, The L.A. Times reported. The ban comes about a month after the boxing superstar and Filipino politician made headlines by comparing gay people to animals. He later apologized but soon after posted a biblical verse on Instagram that declares same-sex acts to be punishable by death. "These are statements of hatred," Grove owner Rick Caruso said. "A lot of people from the gay community come to the Grove and they have a right not to feel uncomfortable."

Oprah Winfrey wants people to know that eating on Weight Watchers doesn't mean monotonous dieting, People noted. In an hour-long private Q&A session with fellow Weight Watchers members, the mogul shared her tips and tricks when it comes to counting points and eating well. "Seafood is your friend!" she said, explaining that her go-to fish meals include cod and her favorite, barramundi. "Sea bass and salmon have more points." In addition, the talk-show queen gives some of her greasy foods a healthful remix. Winfrey—who is a Weight Watchers spokesperson and has a 10 percent stake in the company—uses the Beyond The Scale program, and has lost 30 pounds.

Madonna startled audience members by inviting a 17-year-old fan onstage during her concert in Brisbane, Australia—and then tugging down the teen's corset top to briefly reveal her left breast, CNN International reported. "She's the kind of girl you just want to slap on the a** — and pull," Madonna told the crowd before exposing the young fan. "Sorry ... sexual harassment. You can do the same to me. Good luck." Some observers criticized the incident. "Madonna is in total meltdown. She needs to cancel this tour asap," said TV journalist Piers Morgan, a former CNN host, on Twitter.

Jaden Smith—Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's 17-year-old actor son—is on the cover of British GQ, and inside he tells the magazine that he doesn't see a difference between clothes that are made for men and those made for women, The Root reported. "I don't see man clothes and woman clothes," Jaden said. This is nothing new, as he recently posed in a skirt in a Louis Vuitton womenswear campaign.

Hunky actor Aidan Turner ( TV's Poldark ) is in talks to be the next James Bond, according to a Newsweek article that cites The Sun. The star reportedly jetted off to Los Angeles to meet with Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. However, odds shared by bookmaker William Hill suggest Turner isn't the frontrunner. The Revenant's Tom Hardy is the favorite to succeed Craig, followed by Homeland actor Damian Lewis and Luther 's Idris Elba.

A blue diamond ring that child star-turned-diplomat Shirley Temple wore for decades is going up for auction, according to Page Six. Sotheby's says the 9.54-carat ring is among the more than 300 lots in the "Magnificent Jewels" auction scheduled for April 19 in New York. It has a pre-sale estimate of between $25 million and $35 million.

Actor Dylan O'Brien ( TV's Teen Wolf ) was severely injured on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure, The Hollywood Reporter noted. TMZ originally reported that he suffered multiple broken bones and was rushed to the hospital in British Columbia. Wes Ball is directing the next installment, which is set to be released Feb, 17, 2017. In the film, O'Brien's character, Thomas, embarks on a mission to find a cure to a deadly disease known as the "Flare."

Fox's Prison Break revival is bringing back original stars Robert Knepper, Amaury Nolasco and Rockmond Dunbar, who are reprising their respective roles as T-Bag, Sucre and C-Note, respectively, Variety noted. The trio joins previously announced returning cast members Sarah Wayne Callies and, of course, stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who will be back for the event series that will debut during the 2016-17 season on Fox.
