Ellen DeGeneres is helping to make a terminally ill comedian's dream come true, ABC News reported. Quincy Jones, a Los Angeles-based comedian who has terminal cancer, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the talk show host revealed that she had convinced HBO to air an hour-long stand-up special starring Jones himself. Jones was diagnosed with stage-four mesothelioma in July 2015 and was given one year to live. Jones' one-hour special will take place Monday, April 4, at L.A.'s Teragram Ballroom.

Freeform, previously known as ABC Family, has slated New People for development, a transgender family drama from The Opposite of Sex writer-director Don Roos, Joel Silver's Silver Pictures and Lionsgate Television, NewNowNext noted. The series is inspired by the best-selling nonfiction book Becoming Nicole: The Transformation Of An American Family, which tells the story of a trans girl, her identical twin brother and their family's journey toward acceptance.

More than two dozen members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences signed a letter asking the Academy to address the "tone-deaf" portrayal of Asians at this year's Oscar ceremony, according to EW.com . Boxer Manny Pacquiao has been banned from The Grove in Los Angeles, The L.A. Times reported. Fox's Prison Break revival is bringing back original stars Robert Knepper, Amaury Nolasco and Rockmond Dunbar, who are reprising their respective roles as T-Bag, Sucre and C-Note, respectively, Variety noted.
