Former Survivor: Cook Islands castaway J.P. Calderon has come out, according to a press release from Instinct magazine. He outed himself on a recent episode of the Oxygen Network's The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency as he did a cover shoot for Instinct magazine—which only puts openly gay men on its cover. Of the self-described world's first supermodel, Calderon exclusively told the magazine, 'We started a little bit butting heads, but I love Janice Dickinson. I want everyone to know, she is the coolest person in the world.'
The Jan. 29 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show featured a gay family trained by Family Pride. The episode, titled 'Extraordinary Families,' showcased, among others, the Sutherland-Trevino family from San Antonio, Texas; the family is part of Family Pride's OUTSpoken Families program.
Actor Isaiah Washington has entered a treatment program as part of an effort to atone for a gay slur against Grey's Anatomy co-star T.R. Knight, Out.com reported. 'With the support of my family and friends, I have begun counseling,' the actor said in a statement. 'I regard this as a necessary step toward understanding why I did what I did and making sure it never happens again.' According to Towleroad.com, Washington has fired his longtime publicist and picked up the team of Allan Mayer and Kelly Mullens, who are reportedly very skilled in handling 'crisis situations.'
Writer-director-producer Del Shores ( of Sordid Lives and Queer As Folk ) and his Del Shores Productions have partnered with Funny Boy Films to transform his award-winning stage production of Southern Baptist Sissies to the big screen, according to a press release. Sissies is a dramatic portrayal of four boys' experiences growing up gay in the Baptist Church; Emmy Award winner Leslie Jordan and Delta Burke, both of whom have toured with the production, will star in the film.
Also coming to the big screen is Noah's Arc, Logo's series about four African-American gay friends in Los Angeles, MTV announced. This will be Logo's first original theatrical film. The show was created by and is executive-produced by Patrik-Ian Polk and his Tall Skinny Black Boy Productions.
On Jan. 9, A.J. Willner Auctions auctioned off hundreds of Whitney Houston's monogrammed stage outfits and accessories to pay off overdue storage fees exceeding $175,000, WNBC.com reported. Among the other items are a slot machine, a leather whip and 16 assorted music awards belonging to her soon-to-be ex, Bobby Brown. |
