Ebonie Davisa candidate for state representative of Illinois' 25th Districtwas removed from the ballot on Jan. 30, The Hyde Park Herald noted.
The Chicago Board of Elections website reported that Davis's removal from the ballot was due to lack of valid signatures required to qualify to run.
Davisa longtime advocate and member of the LGBT community who has worked as an instructor and facilitator for Illinois Department Human Rights' Institute for Training and Developmenthas also been active in a number of community LGBT organizations, among them Affinity Community Services and Equality Illinois, Windy City Times had previously reported.
Candidates Anne Marie Miles, Curtis Tarver II, Adrienne Irmer, Grace Chan McKibben, Angelique Collins, Flynn Rush and William Calloway remain on the ballot to succeed longtime state Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie, who is retiring.
