Holiday shoppers packed the Women and Children First bookstore in Andersonville recently in the afternoon to hear books read.
Parents brought a diverse group of children out to hear drag queens Coco Sho-Nell, Muffy Fishbasket and Ashley Morganall from local bar The Callpresent a variety of books to attendees. My First Kwanzaa, Latke the Lucky Dog and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! were told with affection to the kids.
This idea follows a drag-queen reading at the Brooklyn Public Library event with big results that may lead to a trend in diversity to story hour in bookstores and libraries.
After this success, Story Time with Drag Queens is slated to return in 2017.
