—10,000 B.C. ( June 24; $28.98 ) : This movie—which generated widely varying opinions when it ran in theaters earlier this year—seems like it could be 2008's guilty pleasure. —Absolutely Fabulous: Absolutely Everything ( already out; $129.98 ) : As the title indicates, this BBC Video set—packaged in a quilted mini-photo album—features all 36 episodes that starred Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley as, respectively, Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone. —The Buddha of Suburbia ( already out; $29.98 ) : Adapted from the best-selling novel by Hanif Kureishi ( My Beautiful Laundrette ) , this well-crafted four-part mini-series unveils the sexual and political awakenings of Karim Amir ( a very young Naveen Andrews, now on TV's 'Lost' ) in the '70s London Buddhist scene. Despite a concept that may be totally foreign to a lot of people, The Buddha of Suburbia is able to draw the viewer in, thanks to a combination of great acting and spot-on period details. Extras include a David Bowie music video.
—The Carmen Miranda Collection ( June 17; $49.98 ) : Grab your fruit hats! This five-disc set from Fox Home Entertainment includes the films Doll Face, Greenwich Village, If I'm Lucky, Something for the Boys and a newly remastered version of The Gang's All Here. Extras vary with the movies, but they include original theatrical trailers, photo galleries and isolated score tracks.
—City of Men ( July 1; $29.99 ) : This movie, like its underground-hit predecessor, City of God, is very gritty. However, Paulo Morelli's feature isn't exactly a sequel; instead, it's a follow-up to the four-season series of the same name. There's stunning cinematography, as the film is set in Rio de Janeiro.
—Daphne ( already out; $19.98 ) : This film, out on BBC Video, explores the love life of writer Daphne du Maurier, who is best known for the novel Rebecca, which inspired the award-winning Alfred Hitchcock movie. —Mad Men: Season One ( July 1; $49.98 ) : One of the most talked-about shows this past season, the Golden Globe-winning Mad Men is set in 1960 New York, where it reveals the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue. Among the stars are Jon Hamm ( who also won a Golden Globe ) , Vincent Kartheiser and Bryan Batt—who plays a witty, dapper, closeted executive.
—National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets ( already out; $29.99 for the Adventure for the Whole Family and $34.99 for the two-disc Gold Collector's Edition ) : After the bazillion dollars the initial movie made, it was inevitable that there'd be a sequel—and the plot here is as explosive as in the first film. This blend of fiction and historical fact stars Nicolas Cage, Jon Voight, Helen Mirren and Diane Kruger. A treasure trove of bonus features includes audio commentary, numerous featurettes and Easter eggs.
—The Muppet Show: The Complete Third Season ( already out; $39.99 ) : The show you loved watching as a child ( or, at least, when you were younger ) is back—and it's amazing to not only see a very eclectic line-up ( include Sylvester Stallone, Elke Sommer, Leslie Uggams and Helen Reddy ) , but to also realize how adult some of the sketches are. Of course, all the regulars are here, including Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Rowlf and Statler and Waldorf ( the old guys in the balcony ) . Extras include a muppet documentary.
—Nina's Heavenly Delights ( already out; $24.95 ) : Directed by Pratibha Parmar and written by Andrea Gibb, this lesbian-themed movie is reminiscent of films such as Chocolat, as it blends motifs of ( Indian ) food and love. And how can you resist a movie with such a wonderful title?
—Stonewall ( already out; $19.98 ) : This 1995 musical is based on the real-life 1969 riots that spurred the gay-rights movement. This engrossing movie stars Guillermo Diaz, Fred Weller, Luis Guzman and Candis Cayne. Also, in a bit of now-ironic casting, Isaiah Washington—who was involved in an anti-gay flap when he was on TV's 'Grey's Anatomy'—has a part as a cop.
—Stop-Loss ( July 8; $34.99 ) : This movie—helmed by Boys Don't Cry director Kimberly Peirce—spotlights the U.S. military policy that forces Iraq War soldiers to be returned to combat even after their official tours are done. With Ryan Phillippe, Abbie Cornish, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum, there's certainly plenty of eye candy to go around. Bonuses include an audio commentary by Peirce and co-writer Mark Richard; deleted scenes; and featurettes.
