Dining news: National Burger Month, Gino's 50 years, new spots

—In celebration of National Burger Month, Clark Street Dog and Bar, 3040 N. Clark St., will feature a new Red Hot Burger on special for $5.99 ( $6.55 with cheese ). The quarter-pound fresh seasoned burger is topped with an open-faced Vienna Beef natural-casing hot dog, grilled and served with ketchup, mustard, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and crinkle-cut pickles on a grilled bun. —Also in celebration of National Burger Month, MAK: Modern Asian Kitchen, 1924 W. Division St., invites guests to enjoy two new MAK Burger specials available for $10 each throughout May. The MAK Burger is a half-pound of Angus beef hand-pattied, marinated and topped with lettuce and cucumbers; the Spicy MAK Burger consists of a half-pound of Angus beef hand-pattied, marinated and topped with a jalapeno cilantro paste, Swiss cheese and lettuce. —This year, The Original Gino's East of Chicago celebrates the 50th anniversary as a family brand serving its deep-dish pizza across 10 Chicagoland locations, in Wisconsin, Texas and Mexico City, and with shipping nationwide. Now, there's a yearlong celebration, with events such as Customer Celebration Days every Tuesday and the Fifty Years, Fifty Reasons campaign, which provides guests the opportunity to donate to support seven different Children's Miracle Network Hospitals including Ann & Robert H. —LKH Management ( LKH ), the group behind Andersonville's recently opened Replay and Elixir, announced that its eighth property, Lark, is set to open in Lake View this June. Located at 3441 N. Halsted St.—in the former Halsted's Bar + Grill space—Lark will offer wood-fired pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, entrées, salads, appetizers and weekend brunch. The 2,400 square foot venue will accommodate approximately 90 people, and open onto one of Lake View's largest existing patios, doubling the venue's capacity with nearly 100 additional seats.

—The team behind Real Urban Barbecue—owner Jeff Shapiro and Executive Chef Dean Eliacostas—announced their newest endeavor: Honey's Hot Chicken, set to open late spring in downtown Highland Park at 1791 St. Johns Ave. The made-from-scratch menu is headlined by their fried chicken, made to order "glazed" with your choice of their specialty Spicy Nashville Hot or Buffalo sauce, "dusted" with zesty ranch or Zatar seasonings, or traditional. Honey's Hot Chicken will have capacity for 80 dine in guests, with additional limited seating outside.

—Kanela Breakfast Club, 5413 N. Clark St. in Andersonville, is now open. This is the fifth Kanela to open in Chicago, with previous locations in Lake View, Old Town, Wicker Park and Streeterville. —The Duck Inn, 2701 S. —VBD Hospitality, alongside team members of Peruvian restaurant Tanta, announced the May 16 grand opening of Arbella, 112 W. Grand Ave.. Arbella is a new River North 74-seat cocktail lounge that aims to celebrate the culturally diverse backgrounds of the team members. —Piccolo Sogno, 464 N. Halsted St., is offering its spring menu. Chef/Partner Tony Priolo is offering dishes such as cavolo nero ( Tuscan kale, radishes and croutons, tossed with lemon Parmesan dressing ), halibut al forno ( wood-roasted halibut, farro, spring vegetables, green onions, carrot and ginger puree ) and fava e pecorino ( fava beans, pecorino DOP and olive oil ). —Frasca Pizzeria & Wine Bar, 3358 N. Paulina Ave., is marking its 10th anniversary with "10 for 10." On Tuesday, May 17 from open to close, everything on Frasca's rustic Italian dinner menu will be sold at $10 or less. —Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana, 1048 W. Randolph St., will host a free pizza happy hour on the patio on Wed., May 18, at 2-4 p.m. The happy hour will feature complimentary pizzas, including the Margherita ( San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella, basil, pecorino romano; normally $15 ), and the Marinara ( San Marzano tomatoes, oregano, fresh garlic, sea salt, basil; normally $11 ). —Chef-turned-restaurateur Cameron Grant announced Langhe Pasta Company, 2824 W. Armitage Ave.—a culinary passion project delivering his Plin and other pasta favorites directly to consumers. Famed for Logan Square's Osteria Langhe, Grant now shares his recipes with home cooks manufacturing and distributing ready-to-make pasta to retailers—and, in turn, consumers.

—Stan's Donuts & Coffee is expanding, with two new locations opening Saturday, May 21, at 6:30 a.m. The fifth and sixth locations are located at 535 N. Michigan Ave. and 3300 N. Broadway. The grand-opening celebrations start with the first 100 customers at the two new locations receiving a mystery envelope containing prizes ranging from free coffee and swag to the grand prize of Free Donuts For Life. All mystery envelopes contain a prize, including free donuts, gelato and coffee drinks.
