The White House announced the departure of Sam Kass, executive director of the First Lady's "Let's Move!" initiative, the first-ever White House senior policy advisor on nutrition, and personal chef to the First Family, according to a media release. Francesca's Restaurant Group restaurateur Scott Harris has announced the return of the approachable Mexican concept Fat Rosie's Taco & Tequila Bar to the Chicago suburb of Frankfort in spring 2015. The festive taco and tequila restaurant will be located at 28 Kansas St., next door to the group's Francesca's Fortunato location. The menu will offer 10-plus variations of signature tacos along with a selection of queso fundidos, salads, soups and sides.
Chicago craft brewery Arcade Brewery released its first volume of 6-Pack Stories on new comic day, Dec. 10. Festus Rotgut: Zombie Cowboy is a western zombie comic written by Jason Aaron (Thor/Southern Bastards) and illustrated by Tony Moore (The Walking Dead/Fear Agent) across six bottles of Black Wheat Ale. In the world of television, judge Joe Bastianich is leaving the Fox show MasterChef, according to The Wrap. He will take part for the last time in the franchise on the upcoming third season of MasterChef Junior, which premieres Jan. 6 on Fox. The judge said he is leaving to focus on his business interests.

Nick Kokonas (of Chicago's Alinea, Next and The Aviary) announced that his restaurant-ticketing company has taken several big steps forward as a challenger to the status quo of online reservations, SFGate.com noted. First of all, it now has a name: Tock. (According to The Daily Mail, Tock requires customers to reserve tables online and pay the full amount of the restaurant's prix fixe tasting menuincluding service chargesin advance, so that the post-meal bill includes only drinks.) Down the line, Kokonas imagines that Tock can be a tool for any business that conducts a time-slotted charge, from hair salons and spas to private training and non-emergency medicine.
