NAME
"My name is Kat Sass and I'm a beautiful pony. Before drag, I did drag musicals and one of our reviewers described me as "evincing weapons-grade sass." I liked it a lotI think it conveys my raw power and inherent silly playfulness that generally accompanies it."
FIRST DRAG PERFORMANCE
"I began drag about four years ago accidentally. I was cast as a drag queen in a show and T Rex, Kim Chi and Shea Coulee came to see me and afterward T Rex pulled me aside and told me I was a drag queen for real and to do her Pre Show ( The show she had before Crash Landing ). I performed a hysterically weird striptease out of a NASA spacesuit and got cast in Drag Matinee and haven't looked back a minute since."
DRAG INSPIRATION
"My drag inspirations are my mom, my grandmother, Shakespearean heroines, Kabuki, Christian Religious paintings and Orthodox iconography, Madonna, Alexander McQueen, Gaga's bombastic honesty onstage, and lately, Dolly Parton. "
GO-TO NUMBER TO SLAY THE CROWD
"'It's Not Right But It's Okay' ( Thunderpuss remix ) or the Ursine Vulpine version of 'Wicked Game.' I broke my foot four months ago and could no longer prance but I could still tell a story and be emotionally present, so I started choosing more intense, emotionally complicated pieces and prayed that I could be accountably, emotionally honest onstage and still be entertaining."
FUN FACT
"On the internet, a lot of people think I'm a man. ( I've got broad shouldersI can't help it. ) I am gender-nonconforming and I'm so thrilled we have some language to describe now how I've always felt inside."
WHERE CAN WE CATCH YOU
"Berlin, every third Friday for my super experimental drag rave all-gender show with Lucky Stiff called Goddess; I'm a cast member with T Rex's Drag Matinee. I also perform at The Darling, Untitled, Meeting House Tavern and The Drifter."
