UPDATE: Windy City Times was informed March 11 that "Common Threads has decided to reschedule both the Chicago (March 16) and LA (April 2) Chef Takeover events due to concerns related to COVID-19. It was a difficult decision; however, Common Threads is currently working to identify a new date and will announce information once it is confirmed. All ticket purchases for the March 16 event will be honored for the rescheduled event sometime this year."
Common Threads, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness to children, families and communities through cooking and nutrition education, continues to celebrate its 15th anniversary in its hometown of Chicago on Monday, March 16.
The third Chef Takeover event will be a one-night-only ticketed evening at Zhou B Art Center, 1029 W. 35th St., 6:30-9:30 p.m. A VIP preview reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a VIP Chefs' After-Party at The Duck Inn, 2701 S. Eleanor St., beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Each event in the Chef Takeover series features a group of renowned chefs collaborating to create a locally-focused cuisine. The Chicago event will be a dine-around reception featuring chefs Chef Govind Armstrong ( Willie Jane ), Chef Michelle Bernstein ( Cafe La Trova ), Chef Gale Gand ( Sweet Dreams ), Chef Kevin Hickey ( The Duck Inn ), Chef Stephanie Izard ( Girl and the Goat ), Chef Paul Kahan ( Publican ), Chef Bill Kim ( Urbanbelly ), Chef Christian Ragano ( Cindy's ), Gail Simmons ( Food & Wine/Top Chef ), Chef Todd Stein ( The Bristol ), Chef Giuseppe Tentori ( GT Fish & Oyster ) and more.
Additionally, the event will feature one-of-a-kind experiences including a silent auction, entertainment, and special honor and acknowledgement of co-founders Chef Art Smith and Jesus Salgueiro, Chef Michelle Bernstein, Chicago Public Schools CEO Janice Jackson and Gail Simmons.
