Former Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthyor someone acting on his behalfhas apparently formed an exploratory committee to run for mayor of Chicago in February 2019, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
McCarthy was the head of the Chicago Police Department from May of 2011 until December 2015. Current Mayor Rahm Emanuel fired him in the wake of the release of video showing the shooting of Laquan McDonald.
