Chicago Sky May 16 Home Opener at Allstate Arena

CHICAGO, February 6, 2014 — The Chicago Sky announced their 2014 regular season schedule Thursday. Led by fourth-year Head Coach Pokey Chatman, fourth-year Assistant Coach Christie Sides and second-year Assistant Coach Wayne "Tree" Rollins, the Sky enters their ninth WNBA season after a successful 2013 season, where they finished atop the Eastern Conference with a 24-10 record.

Armed with All-Stars Sylvia Fowles, Swin Cash, Courtney Vandersloot and Epiphanny Prince, along with 2013 WNBA Rookie of the Year Elena Delle Donne, the Sky open the 34 game regular season on Friday, May 16, 2014 against Eastern Conference rival the Indiana Fever who are led by 4 time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Tamika Catchings. The Sky's 17 regular season home games will be held at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.

"There is great anticipation and excitement around the start of the 2014 season. Coming off the best season in franchise history, we look forward to continuing to grow our performance on and off the court," said Sky President & CEO Adam Fox. "Starting the season with many high profile home games is a great way to get us ready for what we hope is a championship season."

This season will include star-studded match-ups with Naperville Central High School graduate and 2013 WNBA Most Valuable Player Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, June 6 at 7:30pm.The Sky also welcomes the 2013 first overall draft pick Brittney Griner, and teammate Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, July 11 at 7:30pm.

The Sky will host an ESPN2 nationally televised showdown with the 2013 WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx and Maya Moore on Memorial Day, Monday May 26 at 2:30pm. The 2013 third overall draft pick Skylar Diggins and the Tulsa Shock visit the Sky on Sunday, June 22 at noon in a second nationally televised game. The Sky will be featured in ESPN2 national broadcasts four other times throughout the season — Tuesday, July 1 against the Los Angeles Sparks, Tuesday, July 22 against the Indiana Fever, Tuesday, July 29 against the San Antonio Stars and Thursday, August 7 against the Minnesota Lynx.

The Sky will host its annual theme nights such as Military Appreciation Night, Pride Night, Gospel Night, Police & Fire Night, Youth Sports Night, Faith & Family Night and will again partner with American Cancer Society to host Breast Health Awareness Night. The Sky will also welcome thousands of Chicago area youth to Allstate Arena to cheer on their hometown team for our two Camp Day games during the 2014 season.
