Chicago Red Stars player Brooke Elby has announced her retirement from her professional playing career, accepting a role as the co-executive director for the National Women's Soccer League Players Association ( NWSL ).
Elby, 26, made 54 career appearances in the NWSL. She played for the Boston Breakers and Utah Royals prior Chicago acquiring her in 2018. Elby made 21 appearances for the Red Stars. In 2019, Elby made a career-high 17 appearances in a season.
Elby has been heavily involved with the NWSL Players Association in the past, acting as president in 2019.
