New York's Newfest has announced that On The Downlow won the prize for Best U.S.A. Narrative Feature Film. The film was sponsored by The New York Times and co-presented by The New York International Latino Film Festival.
Directed by Tadeo Garcia, written by Roger Domian, filmed in Chicago's Little Village and Pilsen, with all Chicago cast, On The Downlow—the movie, is raising eyebrows across the country.
As Terry Amour of the Chicago Tribune put it... 'On The Downlow will get people talking.' .... and they are! Bill Stamets of the Chicago Sun-times calls it, 'A Shakespearan, Mean Streets.'
After having its preview screening at Reeling in Chicago and its world premiere in Turino Italy, On The Downlow has been exhibited now in four states, and on its way to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., and Texas. Internationally Australia, Spain, Germany and South Africa will experience On The Downlow.

The Goodman Theatre will present its 2004 Goodman Latino Theater Festival with two weeks of performances by international and local Latino theater companies and artists, July 15 through July 25,
2004. Under the direction of Goodman Resident Artistic Associate Henry Godinez, the Goodman Latino Theater Festival will center around the
Goodman's production of Luis Alfaro's Electricidad in the Albert Theatre, and will feature Owen performances of the North American premiere of Spain's Fábrica de Teatro Imaginario (Imaginary Theatre
Factory). Other festival highlights include performances by California's Culture Clash and Chicago's Aguijón Theatre Company, as well as Luis Alfaro's one-man show, No Holds Barrio. There will also be
a concert reading of the new musical Let the Eagle Fly, about the life of activist Cesar Chavez.
