Chicago House and Social Service Agency has welcomed new leaders to assist the organization in achieving its objectives and to serve individuals and families who are disenfranchised by HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ marginalization, poverty, homelessness, and/or gender nonconformity.
Scott Ammarell, who recently assumed the role of CEO at Chicago House after Reverend Stan Sloan stepped down, is prepared to use his experience in the affordable housing world to enhance and expand on the housing and programs that Chicago House provides to the vast community of those in need.
"We have reached a critical moment in Chicago House's history," said Ammarell. "The need in our community is growing and our innovative programs need to expand as well. To continue our evolution, we have added more depth to our board, and I believe that we are in the best possible position to move forward."
Ray Koenig, partner at Clark Hill PLC, will lead Chicago House's Board of Trustees as the new chair, replacing Ray Lechner who served as chair for three years. Koenig has been a stalwart supporter of Chicago House, and he recently served as Internal Vice Chair. He will be joined by Ryan Garrison, of seoClarity, as External Vice Chair; Kinley Preston, of Vanite'a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon, as Internal Vice Chair; Drew Ferguson, of DeVry, Inc., as Secretary; and Tom Smith, of BMO Harris, as Treasurer.
Chicago House's Board of Trustees also welcomed the addition of Damon Cates, Senior Associate Vice President & Campaign Director at University of Chicago; Robert Fojtik, Public Affairs Manager at AON PLC; Lindsay Gaskins, Founder/CEO of Marbles: The Brain Store; Steve Sondheimer, Senior Compliance Analyst at Chicago Housing Authority; Maritxa Vidal, Director of Health Education, Community Outreach & Marketing at Puerto Rican Cultural Center: VIDA/SIDA; and Adam Zebelian, Assistant State's Attorney at The Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
In May, Chicago House announced Scott Ammarell as the new CEO following an extensive national search. Ammarell previously served as the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel for the Chicago Housing Authority and had also served on various boards, including the board of Chicago House's partner agency, Test Positive Aware Network.
Overall, these trustee and staff advancements will have a significant impact on Chicago House's future plans.
