The Chicago Force continued to steamroll over opponents, moving its record to 4-0 after a 68-0 win over the Columbus Comets on April 30 at Lane Stadium on the campus of Lane Tech College Prep.
Now things get serious for the Force.
Chicago will host the defending Women's Football Alliance (WFA) national champions, the DC Divas, on May 7. Kickoff is at 5 p.m., and the winner will hold the number-one ranking in the National Conference.
Chicago's second-year quarterback, Rasan Gore, led the troops in the dominant, record-setting win over Columbus. She scored the team's first three touchdown on runs of 17, 79 and 4 yards. And her third score, at 12:49 of the second quarter, moved Chicago into the number-one spot for total points ever scored by a women's tackle football team.
Gore's solid showing earned her the Game Day Offensive MVP Award, presented by DLG Management.
Running back Emma Vanderheyden gave Chicago a 38-0 halftime lead with second-quarter touchdown runs of 34 and 1 yards.
Chicago continued to club the Comets in the third quarter as running back Zoe Barnet rushed home from 48 yards at 13:02. Tamika Robinson scored with 4:30 remaining in the third on a 62-yard run along the right sideon her first carry of the game.
Jamie Fornal scored at 4:45 of the fourth quarter on an 11-yard quarterback keeper.
Chicago's Angelique Smith was presented with the Game Day Defensive MVP Award, presented by DLG Management.
The joy of cruising past Columbus is now long forgotten as Chicago prepares for one of its biggest home regular-season games in the team's 14-year history.
