CHICAGO, IL ( March 20, 2017 ) What started off as a prank after losing a Fantasy Football League has gained momentum and will now support a real football team, the Chicago Force. Known as the most eligible bachelor in Chicago, Ryan Stew will be auctioned off for a date on March 25. Stew's friends took out an ad on a bus stop near Milwaukee and Damen billing him as the most eligible bachelor. The ad was part of a public ridicule prank after Stew lost his 2016 Fantasy Football league, which he had been the champion of for two years. Stew, along with one of his friends who started the prank Sean Wyrobek, will participate in the date auction as part of an event benefitting the Chicago Force on March 25 at Martrys' beginning at 9pm.
The prank that made Stew a local celebrity received widespread media attention. The Instagram account @TrySomeStew and the hashtag #TrySomeStew has received an array of photos and messages. On March 25, interested parties can bid for a date with Stew in person. Football has been an important part of Stew's life with a history as a high school coach and his love for fantasy football. "I'm excited to support the women's football team in Chicago."
The event will feature three live music performance: headliner Sami Grisafe Band, Killing gods and opener Chris Buehrle. A DJ will provide dance music beginning at midnight. The evening is hosted by Scott Duff of Windy City Times and Out Chicago radio show. In addition to the date auction, a raffle including a 5 day stay in Cancun will engage the audience between bands.
The Chicago Force won the national championship in 2013 and has made the playoffs every year but once in its history. The team will host an inter-squad scrimmage earlier on the day of the benefit event. The Force begins its 15th season in April, with the first home game on May 6 at Evanston H.S. Sami Grisafe, long time Chicago Force Quarterback, came out of retirement to play one more season with the Force. She was recently selected as Quarterback for Team USA which will compete in international competition this summer. Sami and her band will headline the event at Martyrs' this Saturday, March 25. It's said she's got the voice of Melissa Etheridge and the arm of Joe Montana.
