The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust is a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to preserving the design legacy of Wright through community engagement and education. Curator David Bagnall will lead a presentation on the life and work of the iconic Chicago designer and one of the 20th century's most radical modernists proving the power and potential of an individual, unique vision.

July 20 at 6:00 p.m.

"Attempt to become a cultural provocateur; be a leader rather than a follower."

Join David Miller, Organizing for Action's senior graphic designer, and Traci Wile, director of community programs, for an event that will focus on how representative design can foster relationship-building and storytelling, allowing us to better understand people, build trust and encourage effective action.

Organizing for Action ( www.facebook.com/OFA/ ) is a community of grassroots organizers with local chapters throughout the country. OFA seeks to mobilize and train the next generation of progressive leaders, and empower a nationwide network of volunteers to create the change they seek.

ChiDM Presents: Openbox, Design for Good

July 25 at 6:00 p.m.

"Use your work to become advocates of projects for the public good."

This tenet from Dan Friedman's Radical Modernist Agenda will be the focus of a presentation led by New York based design studio and film company Openbox, asking questions like how can designers develop consensus around the meaning of "public good"? How can we establish a whole view model that promotes economic health without displacement? How do we engage the community in development initiatives and what role does education, art and commerce play? How do we reposition the city as a lab for experimentation and collaboration?

Openbox and its sister film company, Opendox, were founded to drive large scale urban development and education projects and produce impact-driven stories. Join Openbox founder Marquise Stillwell and Executive Director of Friends of the Parks Juanita Irizarry, and others representing policy, media, urban planning, and the arts for a panel discussion.

Clutch has been programmed by designers such as Meg Duguid, Paul Hopkin, Emma Robbins, and Georgina Valverde and is currently on loan to Tanner Woodford of the Chicago Design Museum. Type Hike is a non-profit design project created by David Rygiol and James Louis Walker. Born from the belief that all designers are obligated to use their talent and ability to make the world a more beautiful place, Type Hike celebrates and supports the outdoors though typography. Join Rygiol as he discusses the inspiration for NPS 100, a poster series featuring 60 unique designs celebrating the National Park Service centennial.
