CHICAGO The Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance ( PDNA ) will host a political candidate's forum on Thursday, February 25, 2016 starting at 6:30pm at Second Presbyterian Church, 1936 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago. "We are pleased that all four candidates have confirmed their attendance at this highly anticipated political forum," said Tina Feldstein, PDNA President.
The PDNA continuing its now ten year tradition of holding community meetings on important topics, is proud to host a moderated forum with the candidates for two very hotly contested legislative races for voters in our community. Starting at 6:30 pm, Illinois State Representative for the 26th District Christian Mitchell ( incumbent ) and his challenger Jhatayn "Jay" Travis will be present for an hour long forum. Illinois State Representative for the 5th District Ken Dunkin ( incumbent ) and his challenger Juliana Stratton will be present immediately following starting at 7:30 pm.
The 5th District in particular has become an exceedingly publicized race because it has been billed as a proxy war between Democratic Speaker Madigan and Gov. Rauner. "All of us are being inundated with campaign literature," said John Jacoby, PDNA Vice President. "This is our chance to hear the candidates respond to the issues we are all interested in," Jacoby added.
Community members are encouraged to come and listen to the candidates seeking to be their representatives in Springfield as they respond to questions about important state and local issues. Voters can go to the PDNA Facebook page where potential questions for the candidates can be posted for consideration.

About Second Presbyterian Church
Second Presbyterian Church is one of Chicago's architectural gems. Architect James Renwick designed the Gothic Revival exterior and Howard Van Doren Shaw and Frederic Clay Bartlett redesigned the interior in the Arts and Crafts taste. In addition to the original interior fixtures and murals, memorial windows made by William Morris & Company, Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company, Tiffany Studios, Church Glass & Decorating Company, McCully & Miles, and Louis J. Millet enhance the Church's interior. In 2013, Second Presbyterian Church was designated a National Historic Landmark in recognition of its Arts and Crafts interior. National Historic Landmark designation is reserved for buildings and sites that are determined by the Secretary of the Interior to possess national significance in American culture and history.
