Gateway for Cancer Research raised $4.1 million at its 25th annual Cures Gala on Oct. 15 at the Navy Pier Aon Grand Ballroom. Titled "The Great Gateway: 25 Years of Illuminating the Way to Cures," the fundraiser encouraged guests to dress for the '20s-inspired theme.
A star-studded red carpet began the evening, thanks to 16-time Grammy-winning composer David Foster, who brought many of his friends along for the ride.
When asked about working with past divas, Foster mentioned that one thing he loved about Barbra Streisand is she does not compromise. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Peter Cetera talked with Windy City Times about working with Cher in the studio. ( A full interview is forthcoming. )
Strangest place he had heard his song played before? Singer Michael Bolton answered Dubai since he didn't know they were into U.S. music.
Platinum-selling artists The Tenors walked the carpet and mentioned making a live concert for the holidays in Canada with special guestspossibly even Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen, who was in attendance and spoke about her performance at LA's Pride the day after the Orlando incident. "It was an emotional day but we powered together so it was an important evening," she said.
