Call for Filmmakers to Submit Works to the 20th Chicago Latino Film Fest
2003-11-01

facebook twitter google +1 reddit email

The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (ILCC) is accepting submissions for its 20th Anniversary of the Chicago Latino Film Festival. The deadline for filmmakers to submit is Dec. 12, 2003. The 20th Anniversary of the Chicago Latino Film Festival takes place April 16-28, 2004.

The Festival showcases more than 100 feature and short films and videos that reflect Latino culture in Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the United States. Films from other countries are considered as well if the director is of Iberoamerican descent, or the subject matter is directly related to Latino culture. The Festival presents all genres and forms of filmmaking including narrative, animation, documentaries, experimental, etc. The film submission form can be downloaded at www.latinoculturalcenter.org/filmfest/ or call (312) 431-1330.

Not only do films get exposure at the largest Latino film festival in the U.S., but many of them go on to distribution in theaters and movie channels. HBO Latino acquired many of the films in its programming from the Festival such as Salvajes (Spain), The Blue Diner (U.S) and The Bronze Screen (U.S.) to name a few. Sundance Channel also picked up films as well and films such as La Ley de Herodes (Mexico) have been picked up by Venevision International, a distribution company with a focus in Latino films.

Chicago artists get to show off their artistic talent as the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (ILCC) announces its Poster Contest for the 20th Chicago Latino Film Festival. The contest is open to all artists and submissions must be received by Dec. 3.

This contest gives artists an opportunity to win $500. In addition, the poster design will become the face of the film festival. It will be on the cover of one million newsprint schedules that are inserted in various Chicago newspapers. The artwork will also be featured on invitations, t-shirts, a film trailer, advertisements and our website╦ťcreating priceless exposure for the artist.

There is no limit to the number of entries submitted. Entries must be mounted on an 8 1/2' x 11' board. Use colors and design concepts that create a strong graphic presentation. The design must be easily translated to a variety of print materials such as 30' x 36' size posters, newsprint ads, cotton t-shirts, bus ads, film, etc.

For more information, call (312) 431-1330. International Latino Cultural Center, c/o Columbia College , 600 S. Michigan Ave. Chicago, IL 60605.
