The Chicago Police Department unveiled a draft of the firearm pointing incidents policy on July 16, after reviewing and incorporating feedback from the Independent Monitoring Team assessing the department's compliance with the consent decree, and the office of the Illinois attorney general.
As required by the consent decree, a 15-day public comment period began July 16, providing the public with an opportunity to review and submit comments on the draft policy. At the end of the comment period on July 31, CPD will review the feedback and implement a final version of the policy.
Members of the public can review the draft policy and submit comments or feedback at home.chicagopolice.org/firearm-pointing-incidents-policy .
