COVID-19 Replay closes July 5-6 after employee tests positive

The restaurant Replay Andersonville, 5358 N. Clark St., is closing July 5-6 after owner Mark Liberson posted on Facebook that an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

On July 5, Liberson posted, "While this post is not required by the City of Chicago or the State of Illinois, in the interest of transparency I have decided to share that a member of our waitstaff at Replay Andersonville ( who has no symptoms of COVID-19 and was tested for another purpose ) notified us last night that they tested positive for the virus.

"We immediately began following the procedures outlined by the city and state, removing the employee from our schedule, notifying staff members to self-monitor, and conducted a more extensive interview with the staff member to determine if there was extended contact ( greater than 15 minutes ) with any other staff member while within 6 feet of each other. The employee responded that they were doing the opposite while at work, and made a point of not having extended contact with others, and also never ate or drank with any other member of our team either while at work or after work, which I confirmed with the employee's direct manager. The employee also never had extended contact with guests and, as required by law, always wore a mask, used proper sanitizing for their hands, etc.

"The procedures and practices we have in place in our businesses are based upon the assumption that everyone could be positive and a carrier of the virus, and we have acted with this in mind as we established and continue to modify our procedures to ensure the safety of the public and our staff.

"We will be closing early today and are remaining closed Monday to ensure we can effectively support our team and also to ensure that we are doing the right thing in our reaction and plans going forward."

At the end of the post is a chart from the World Health Organization about how to wear fabric masks correctly.
