Gerber Hart Library and Archive is the premiere LGBTQ library and archive in the Midwest. While preserving Chicago history is the main focus of the Archival collections, materials from neighboring states are also included. The Circulating Collection of the Library is national in scope and includes extensive fiction holdings, and non-fiction research support volumes, as well as Young Adult/Juvenile literature, and Audio/Visual materials for check-out. There are also on-going exhibits highlighting the Archival holdings, both in the Library and on the First Floor in the Howard Brown Health Center.
