Fans caught the new wave Sept. 7 as musical act Blondie went back to its roots at the House of Blues in Chicago. After 10 p.m., lead singer Debbie Harry finally graced the stage, sporting shades, a wig and a tutu-type red skirt.
What was truly interesting was the set list for the show. It completely varied from dates around the country. Sure, it started off the same with "Union City Blue" but then changed it up with "Atomic" "Call Me" and "Maria." The band picked interesting choices such as "China Shoes" and "Wipe Off My Sweat" while Harry stripped down a bit and relaxed by removing the sunglasses. The crowd went wild for "Rapture," which segued into the Beastie Boys " ( You Gotta ) Fight for Your Right ( To Party! ) " and the band, indeed, broke into a party.
"One Way or Another" she kept the crowd dancing after a few slow songs; then, the band finished its encore with "Heart of Glass." It wasn't a life-changing concert but, for many of the older audience members, it was a chance to remember a particular generation of music.
