The Bermuda Supreme Court, on June 6, ruled that a statute rescinding marriage rights to same-sex couples was unconstitutional, according to a Daily Beast item.
Chief Justice Ian Kawaley said that the Domestic Partnership Act was "inconsistent with provisions in the Constitution which give the right to freedom of conscience and creed."
Last December, Parliament passed the Actbecoming the first country to roll back same-sex marriage rights. Gov. John Rankin signed the bill into law Feb. 7.
