Registration is open for "Being A Stronger Ally: Trans/GNC Affirming Symposium"which the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce ( ACC ) is hosting in partnership with Chicago Therapy Collectiveon Saturday, Feb. 22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Chicago Waldorf School, 5200 N Ashland Ave.
The symposium will include a keynote address, along with three breakout sessions in the morning and three in the afternoon. Sessions will reflect the diversity of trans/GNC communities, and highlight issues impacting trans/GNC individuals, specifically trans-inclusive customer service, trans-inclusive workplaces, and civic engagement and allyship.
Event facilitators will include Jacqueline Boyd, of The Care Plan; Bonsai Bermudez, of Youth Empowerment Performance Project ( YEPP ); and Dr. S. Simmons, of the University of Chicago. Also, 40th Ward Ald. Andre Vasquez, community activist Leni Manaa Hoppenworth and Helix Cafe's Caitlin Botsios are slated to attend the civic engagement portion of the day.
This day of learning is open to the public and free to all Andersonville Chamber Member business owners, employees and non-profits. Tickets are $15 for non-members; financial aid is available. See Andersonville.org .
