Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced that Paula Bastacurrently director of senior services and health initiatives at the Chicago Housing Authoritywill head the Department on Aging, The State Journal-Register noted.
Basta came to the Chicago Housing Authority after almost two decades at the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services, where she was the regional director of the Northeast ( Levy ) Senior Center from 2004 to 2018 and the director of information and assistance from 2000 to 2004. Basta received a master's of divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary and a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Dayton.
In 2009, she was inducted to what is now known as the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame.
Pritzker also announced that Ron Guerrier will be chief information officer of the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology, and that Robert Muriel will be the director of the Illinois Department of Insurance.
