Partners: Electric car maker Tesla Motors has announced a partnership with Japanese automotive giant Toyota to develop electric vehicles and production systems, according to an WREX.com item. Toyota will buy $50 million worth of Tesla common stock in a private placement once Tesla's initial public offering is closed.

Surging: Ford Motor Co. had its most profitable first half since 1998, with earnings of $4.7 billion and second-quarter net income reported at $2.6 billion, according to SpeedTV.com . It was the company's fifth consecutive profitable quarter.
