On April 2 at the River North spot SUB 51, The Atlantic City Alliance ( ACA ) unveiled its "Do AC" campaign for media reps at an event that included everything from "Liza Minnelli" and "Lady Gaga" performers to a meal that featured sushi, salads, mini-cheeseburgers and desserts.
Among those in attendance was the city's out gay Republican mayor, Don Guardian.
During their presentations, Guardianas well as the ACA's Jeff Guaracino and Liza Cartmelltalked of the changes Atlantic City is undergoing ( away from a gaming center ) and even dispelled some myths about about the city. ( For example, the city's main boardwalk was not destroyed at all during Superstorm Sandy. In fact, it wasn't touched. ) Among the many assets listed were shopping ( tax-free ), the return of the Miss America pageant, various shows, the nightlife and even the World Championship of Sand Sculpting.
The Atlantic City reps were also in Chicago to celebrate the new United Airlines daily "nonstop flights" to Atlantic City International Airport from Chicago O'Hare.
