CHICAGO ( April 11, 2018 ): The Andersonville Flower & Garden Show returns next weekend for its 4th year of spring celebrations throughout the district. Organized by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce ( ACC ), over 30 businesses and community organizations join the roster this year, with additional vendors popping up with fresh florals, planting demonstrations, and special workshops. The free event also falls on Earth Day weekend, welcoming a variety of community groups to organize neighborhood-wide cleanup days and environmental programming.

Conceived by the owners of Mercantile M in 2015 as an event for Andersonville's home décor, furniture, and vintage shops to showcase their garden-themed and spring merchandise, the event has expanded in the past two years to include restaurants, other types of retailers, and most recently, the addition of floral shops and landscaping pop-ups.

Next weekend, expect to see live plants and flowers showcased at businesses like Andersonville's newest brick and mortar florist, Foyer Shop ( 1480 W. Berwyn ), a pop up by returning favorite Marguerite Gardens at Foursided ( 5061 N Clark ), in-shop floral arrangements by Youth and Yarrow at Milk Handmade ( 5137 N Clark ), A Pretty Flower in the lobby of The Guesthouse Hotel ( 4872 N Clark ), and a plant sale with the Peterson Garden Project. Landscaping demos will also be conducted throughout the weekend by City Spaces Landscaping & Design ( appearing at The Guesthouse Hotel both days ), as well as Red Stem Native Landscaping at Women and Children First ( 5233 N Clark ) on Saturday at 11AM.

With Earth Day falling on Sunday, April 22, several neighborhood organizations have aligned their annual environmental programming with the citywide cleanup day on Saturday, April 21: Edgewater Environmental Sustainability Project will host an Earth Day tree walking tour at 11AM; the Winona Foster Winnemac Carmen ( WFWC ) Block Club hosts their Green Up Clean Up event on the 5100 block of North Carmen from 11AM-3PM; West Edgewater Andersonville Residents ( WEAR ) will host their Earth Day cleanup event; and the West Andersonville Neighbors Together ( W.A.N.T. ) will woodchip the path along Ravenswood between Berwyn and Balmoral.

All participating locations will be marked with a numbered garden gnome so guests can easily walk around the district and discover new experiences throughout the weekend. Be on the lookout for the official Andersonville Flower & Garden Show booklet/map, available in participating locations next week.
