Amigas Latinas held their annual Aixa Diaz scholarship dinner Nov. 13, and surprise guest was national poetry slam champion Staceyann Chin (photo 6) , in town for the DEF Poetry Jam. Photo 3 is Argentinian artist Mabel Vilner, who donated a work to the event—won by Bibiana Andrade ( pictured with the artist ) . C.C. Carter also performed her famous 'HIPS' poem ( last photo) . The event raises funds for scholarships going to Latina youth. Photos by Mel Ferrand
