Chicago, IL — The Shrews are proud to announce the opening of their first run of improvised shows, The Shrews: Present Unsex Me. The Shakespearian style show will have a four week run starting October 3, 2018.

Inspired by playwright William Shakespeare, The Shrews: Present Unsex Me, is performed by an all female-identifying improv troupe. Directed by Jessica Landis the cast of ten women will perform long form improvisation to develop an original Shakespeare piece.

The Shrews: Present Unsex Me will run Wednesday's at 8:30 pm Oct. 3 through Oct. 24 ]at Judy's Beat Lounge, located in Piper's Alley, 230 W. North Ave., 2nd Floor, just two blocks east of the Brown Line Sedgwick stop on the El. Each show is approximately 45 minutes. Tickets can be purchased in advance online, www.secondcity.com/shows/chicago/the-shrews-present-unsex-me-here/ or at the door for $10. An American Sign Language Interpreter is scheduled for the October 17th performance.

About the cast — The Shrews are composed of women with varying levels of experience within the realms of improv, theatre, Shakespeare scholarship, and Renaissance Faire. The troupe came about when a group of like-minded improvisers connected through Facebook and decided to create the performance opportunity they saw sorely lacking in the Chicago improv comedy world: Shakespearean-style improvisation with women, femme and non-binary performers. What started as a meeting over coffee turned into a weekly Shakespeare reading, and as the group started to expand, The Shrews came into fruition.
