Following the debut of BAFTA-winning writer Kay Mellor's critically-acclaimed Acorn TV Original and BBC One drama Love, Lies & Records, Mellor's next addictive British drama, GIRLFRIENDS, makes its exclusive North American Premiere as an Acorn TV Original Series beginning weekly on Monday, January 29, 2018. The six-part contemporary ITV drama follows three friends struggling with the responsibilities that come with being a modern woman of a certain age.Phyllis Logan ( Downton Abbey, The Good Karma Hospital ), two-time Oscar-nominee Miranda Richardson ( Stronger, Mapp & Lucia, And Then There Were None, Churchill, The Hours ) and Zoà Wanamaker ( Mr. Selfridge, Agatha Christie's Poirot ) headline a fantastic ensemble, including: Matthew Lewis ( Harry Potter's Neville Longbottom, Happy Valley, Ripper Street ), Anthony Head ( Buffy the Vampire Slayer ), Daisy Head ( The Syndicate 3 ), Chris Fountain( Coronation Street ), Adrian Rawlins ( Prisoners' Wives, Harry Potter's James Potter ), Emmett J Scanlon ( The Fall ), Rochenda Sandall ( Love, Lies & Records ) and Matthew Marsh ( Love, Lies & Records, Dunkirk ). Called a "glorious streaming service… an essential must-have" ( The Hollywood Reporter ), Acorn TV isNorth America's most popular and largest streaming service focused on British and international television from RLJ Entertainment ( NASDAQ: RLJE ).

After the dramatic and sudden death of Linda's husband Micky, childhood friends Linda ( Phyllis Logan ), Sue ( Miranda Richardson ) and Gail ( Zoà Wanamaker ) find themselves back together again. Each has their own problems to face; from a looming divorce from the husband she still loves and the loss of a high-powered job through age discrimination, to juggling the endless responsibilities of their grandchildren and ageing mothers.

As widowed Linda tries to come to terms with being on her own after over 30 years of marriage, she and her girlfriends are horrified to find that this could be the least of her worries. As questions over the circumstances of Micky's death start to be asked, accusations reveal secrets, deception and doubts that tear at our Girlfriends' friendship. Will it endure or will it be severely put to the test?

U.S. Premiere: Beginning Monday, January 29 — Monday, March 5, 2018. More information at the link: signup.acorn.tv/ .
