The Association for Latino/a Motivating Action, or shortened as ALMA, honored LatinX inductees of the LGBT Hall of Fame and 30 Under 30 award winners from this past June at Zebraz 18, the newly renovated restaurant by Roberto Castillo, in Pilsen on the evening of Nov. 9.

This demographic's new Hall of Fame members for this year include Betty Teanga, Dulce Quintero and Alicia T. Vega.

Windy City Media Group's 30 Under 30 Award winners from the Latinx community included Lissette Castillo Vizcarra, Antonio Elizondo, Angelica D'Souza, Jessie Fuentes, Antonio Gutierrez, Roberto Mendez, Vince Pegan, Eileen Pegan, Avi Roque and Ilene Palacios.

Also, the LGBT History Month Award from State Teasurer Michael Freirchs for Outstanding Service in Education went to Kenny Martin-Ocasio, who was also recognized as part of the program.

A short video presentation was shown that depicted the now-deceased Teanga, also known as Miss Ketty, along with the other honorees from the group.

The 2017 Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St. on Nov. 8.
