The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's ( AFSP ) Out of the Darkness walk will take place Saturday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at Montrose Harbor.
Suicide is the number-one leading cause of death for people ages 10 to 44 in Illinois.
Those who participate in the Out of the Darkness Chicagoland Walk are part of a movement. Held in hundreds of cities across the country, walkers are giving people the courage to open up about their own struggle or loss, and the platform to change the culture's approach to mental health.
