Chicago- The members and friends of aChurch4Me MCC are pleased to announce that they will be moving to a new worship space. The church will inaugurate its new home at Second Stage Theater, on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 11 AM with a special blessing by the denomination's international leader, Reverend Elder Nancy Wilson. All are welcome to attend this celebration. Second Stage Theater, 3408 N. Sheffield, Chicago located in the heart of Lakeview, was formerly known as Stage Left Theater and boasts a comfortably intimate environment well suited to the church's welcoming

attitude and laid back service style.

A member of the forty-three year old Christian denomination, Metropolitan Community

Churches or MCC, a Church4Me MCC began holding services in the Center on Halsted in April 2007. The church defines itself as "a radically organic faith community where: love is a blessing; diversity a gift; worship a celebration; and life a journey". In that spirit, aChurch4Me MCC has weathered and thrived through a number of significant changes in the past year. In the spring, prompted by growth and a commitment the wider community, the congregation relocated to The National Pastime Theater in the city's Buena Park neighborhood. Summer saw the church's founding pastor, Rev. Kevin Downer announce that he would be leaving to serve another MCC church in Minneapolis. Following Rev. Downer's departure, the congregation invited Rev. Rachelle Brown to lead the church forward.

Referring to the church's latest change of venue, Rev. Brown reminded the congregation of the Israelites' journey to the promised land stating, "we now have not just one, but a host of 'Joshuas' to move forward into the place of promise for ministry to fulfill our call in building a new type of spiritual community, our presence for one another, and the people of Chicago."

Second Stage, which is operated by the well respected Profiles Theater Company, offers the church many opportunities including extended hours and space use options including the possibility to host GLBT focused discussion groups. Watch for future announcements about these, In the meantime, aChurch4Me MCC will continue to meet for worship every Sunday at 11AM at Second Stage Theater and all are welcome to attend.
