Gender equity and the impact of the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" on the military are among the issues related to diversity that will be discussed at the 2012 American Bar Association (ABA) annual meeting taking place Aug. 2-7 in Chicago.
Among the conference's many diversity programs are "LGBT Service Members and the Armed Forces One Year After the End of Don't Ask, Don't Tell"; "and "Visible Invisibility: Women of Color in Fortune 500 Legal Departments."
Notable speakers include Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and Theodore B. Olson and David Boies, co-chairs of the ABA Task Force on Preservation of the Justice System and co-counsel in the lawsuit challenging California's Prop 8.
