Making a difference in the fight against cancer can be fun and invigorating.
A Sister's Hope, the Chicago-based charity that has placed more than $6 million since 2007 into breast cancer researchers' laboratories, is holding its annual "Take a Swing at Breast Cancer" golf tournament Friday, July 29, at Highland Park Country Club in Highland Park, Illinois. Golfers can participate for a flat entry fee or take on the added challenge of fundraising, for which attractive prizes will be awarded to top performers.
Events of A Sister's Hope in the United States and The Netherlands have supported research projects in Illinois, Missouri, Michigan and New York, as well as university medical centers throughout Holland. Each year, a two-day ( 60 kilometers ) walk takes place in The Netherlands from Bussum to Amsterdam, ending in the historic Olympic Stadium, site of the 1928 Games ceremonies. A Sister's Hope also produces multiple versions of the "Pink Moon Run & Walk," including July 2, 2016, in Muiden, The Netherlands, at the 12th-century castle Muiderslot. The annual 60K Walk will be held Oct. 1-2, 2016.
Statistics worldwide show that at least 1 in 8 women are confronted with the diagnosis of breast cancer. Of every 200 diagnoses, one breast cancer patient is a man. Without research, there is no hope. A Sister's Hope exists to fund that research.
