More than $11,000 has been raised so far from this year's fourth annual "Celebrity Bowl" at Waveland Bowl, sponsored by Friends of the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame May 9. Pledges are still coming in for the event, coordinated by Dick Uyvari.
Alderman James Cappleman, Jonathan Pizer representing U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, Gary Chichester and Mary Morten were among the bowlers.
Friends of The Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame is a not-for-profit which annually holds an Induction ceremony for its honorees. Chicago is the only known municipality that so honors its LGBTQ residents. It not only pays tribute to deserving individuals and organizations, but also documents the LGBTQ communities' heritage and diversity through its annual publication, and its website, www.glhalloffame.org .
