The Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., is holding its 20th Annual Chicago European Union Film Festival through April 5.
This anniversary festival will run Chicago premieres of 61 new feature films that represent all 28 EU nations. On Friday, March 9, the evening's host will be Dr. Ivan Anchev, consul general of the Republic of Bulgaria in Chicago.
Among LGBT films of interest are the 2017 Finnish feature A Moment in the Reeds ( Saturday, March 17, at 8:15 p.m. and Thursday, March 22, at 8:30 p.m. ); and the 2017 British movie Anchor and Hope ( Friday, March 23, at 4 p.m. and Monday, March 26, at 7:45 p.m. ). The 2017 Italian item There Is a Light was shown March 10.
